Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an appraisal cost?

Our fees are based on the time required to appraise your items, similar to other professional services. While it is challenging to provide an exact fee without examining the item(s), the cost for a written appraisal of a single item typically ranges from $75 to $125. Discounts may apply if you have multiple items to be appraised, and we will provide a quote once the jewellery is presented.

Please note that items requiring more extensive research and analysis, such as antique jewellery, signed pieces, or complex watches, will incur higher appraisal fees.

Estate appraisals, which include verbal evaluations, sorting, gemstone and metal testing, and sales guidance, are billed at an hourly consultation rate of $200, with a minimum fee of $125.

What do you appraise?

We appraise all jewellery items including antique jewellery, watches and loose gemstones.

What do you not appraise?

We do not appraise rough (uncut) gems or crystals, silverware or flatware.

Do you buy jewellery?

No. We do not buy, sell or broker jewellery at this time. This allow us to be unbiased in our evaluations.

Can you provide advice for selling jewellery?

Yes we offer consultation services. We can recommend the most appropriate selling arenas to get the most for your specific jewellery items. Some examples are auction houses, retail jewellers that buy estate jewellery, online sales, liquidators, etc.

About

Rhonda Loubert

G.G. – CGA, FCGmA, PJA-CJA

My love of minerals, gems and jewellery began when I received my birthstone in a ring for my seventh birthday. Growing up in Sault Ste. Marie, I fell in love with the agate pebbles found on the shores of Lake Superior.

I am an experienced Gemmologist and Jewellery Appraiser based outside of Burk’s Falls, Ontario. After many professional years in downtown Toronto, I made the “pandemic move” back to Northern Ontario.

I am dedicated to providing meticulous, independent appraisals to help clients make well-informed decisions about their jewellery.
